Made for Edward I who was a great fan of tales of King Arthur and his knights of the round table. Painted with the Tudor Rose and names of the 24 knights in Henry VIII reign. The great hall has a beautiful vaulted ceiling, columns and stained glass windows.

There are two of these books at Hever Castle. I’m not sure which one this is. One is an illuminated manuscript from Bruges 1420-1450 thought to be owned by Anne Boleyn which contains her signature. The other was printed on velum in Paris in 1528. Anne Boleyn’s inscription is in this book. (Note to self… take a photo of the description as well as the artefact.) It looks like the illuminated book to me but both are important artefacts of the period.
