On This Day 11th March 1710, Joseph Addison was returned as MP for Malmesbury following the death of Henry Mordaunt.
Addison was a poet, playwrite and co-founder of the Spectator magazine as well as a politician.

On This Day in History, 28th February 1770, Charles James Fox, became Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty. While MP for Midhurst at the time, he would be MP for Malmesbury from 1774-1780.
