It was a typical day for the 4-week-old hobby chicks, female CT & male CV. Their great parents brought a continuous stream of snacks. None of us were to know that the next day would bring tragedy.

At nearly 4 weeks old, female CT and male CV are more alert & active. This evening's menu included several dragonflies, followed by a small bird. Both chicks ate well -- CT a bit better.

Every meal for the 3-week old chicks is a chaotic competition. This one was very entertaining, as the little chick made leapt over the big one for a bite. In the end, they both ate well.

When dad arrived with lunch, the lightening-fast chicks grabbed it. It was too big for them to manage, so the joke was on them. Ultimately, they got their meal. (So. UK #HobbyFalcons)

Persistence paid off when mum Hobby Falcon repeatedly tried to feed the 5-day-old chicks a whole leg from the prey she had brought. She was successful after five attempts.
