A photo of the actual animatroic Freddy Fazbear that is to be featured at Hollywood Horror Nights. He looks pretty much exactly as he did in the film, which makes sense because Blumhouse is footing the bill. However, on a personal note: I have not been in the FazFandom for that long. I used to actually look down on it as a cheap jumpscare game, even though I loved the genre it created. I always saw the games as limited, crappy, YouTube bait. And let's be clear - THEY ARE. I am not now, nor will I ever be, a fan of the so-called Cawthon Era. It's very easy to see why someone as picky about games as I am would not be a fan. Still image, resource management, and you only ever get to actually move in the third game. Then the movie dropped. And I saw.... Freddy. It was the scene where Abby walks up to him and takes his hand. I am not one to indulge in hyperbole and I reiterate that when I say, my breath caught. The world stopped. He was HUGE. I am a mutantly large human being at 6'7". But I would have to look UP to Freddy. And he was basically a teddy bear. with a brain and a personality (ok there's the whole dead kid thing, but let's not pretend that when it comes to fandoms, that even scratches the surface of "weird"...)! It was after having a crush on the bear that I discovered the other thing about this franchise that has a stranglehold on me - The Lore. I love True Crime stuff, but I always end up completely terrified because this is real crime committed by real people against other real people. There's a real tragedy there. But with the Fazbear lore, there is ALL of the drama and the tragedy, and a supernatural element, and now this wild Sci-fi element. This story is a wild ride no matter WHAT your headcanon is! (Next Alt Plz!)

This image is of the Bonnie animatronics for Hollywood Horror Nights. but let's continue - So I found this story that had a mystery, a True Crime vibe, with supernatural Teddy Bears who I really wanted a hug from and I found something. There's another side to some of that and I am not going to get into it. But I have been a Furry for over 30 years. I LIKE that Bear. Moving on. The collecting came next and it really hit about as hard as the Art did. And shortly afterwards, the Fan Songs. And suddenly most of my t-shirts are FNAF. My backpack is Freddy. I have a GlamFreddy-themed Pup Hood and an entire Human Cosplay built around it. My husband walked into my office several months ago and just sort of stopped and said "He really is taking over in here.." And finally, I did the books, the VR games, Security Breach, Ruin and now Mimic. So I love the Steel Wool era. And they gave me the final piece of the puzzle. The moment that took it from obsession to personal safe space: The fact that the AI Bear was in a gay relationship with the AI Rabbit. And they "Loved" each other. I fully believe this is Steel Wool's way of giving us a little back in the face of Cawthon's Republican black marks. And I'll take it. So yeah. I am into that "silly scare bear game". But it's more than that for me. It's happiness in the face of a horrifying reality. It's safety in a world where I do not feel safe. Thanks for reading! 🤎💜
