Center of photo, a pair of Green-winged Teals push through the grasses and reflected images on the water. The male leads with his cinnamon-colored head and green crescent that extends from his eyes to the back of his head. The female following is brown with a cream-colored strip at the rear, like the males. In flight, both birds have a green patch on wings helping with identification. They are the smallest of the dabbling ducks.
Happy New week friends... Was happily surprised to find a pair of Green-winged Teals still hanging around. Upon further research, I found a small number do in fact breed here. Nice way to discover new information. #birds #ohbirding #wildlife #naturephotography #waterfowl #HowardMarshWest
