Fall doesn't mean that there no new flowers to photograph. Mahonia russellii is just beginning to bloom in my garden.

Mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts water, boil to dissolve, and let cool. Skip red dye—it's harmful. Clean feeders with hot water every few days (daily in heat) to prevent mold that can hurt hummingbirds.

The deep red, tubular blossoms of the coral bean plant set against a background of lush, dark greenery.
Erythrina herbacea L.
(Coral bean) The florets are tubular, very slender, coral to deep red in color and attractive to hummingbirds. They never fully open. Such a beautiful plant. In N America, if you want hummingbirds, plant this. #HikingFlorida #coralbean #PlantsofBlueSky #HummingbirdFood
There were a few of these seen today on our walk. I believe they are the native Redflowering Currant, Ribes sanguineum, in full bloom even with its leaves only barely coming in. Impossible to miss!
The size of their flowers in comparison to the newly emerging leaves was staggering. They really stand out on top of being a vibrant bright pink they are not obscured from any leaves so it's impossible for pollinators to make them.
I had a feeling these might be attractive to hummingbirds based on their shape and orientation. And sure enough they are! Well at least according to the internets. Next time I see them I'll have to hang a hammock nearby to see who visits them.
Definitely giving off hummingbird vibes!
The Redflower Currants are blooming! It feels more and more like spring every day.
