From the outside, life looks normal.
On the inside, HI can mean exhaustion, sleepless nights, constant checks, and endless “what ifs.”
At CHC, we listen to what families tell us life is really like, so we can tailor our support, resources, and advocate for them🥰#HyperinsulinismUK
Hyperinsulinism families describe the time around diagnosis as terrifying & overwhelming. Our packs are handed out to newly diagnosed families to access our support at the earliest opportunity

🥺Babies show signs. Families speak up.
The question is... are you listening?
⚠️ Think Hypoglycaemia = know the signs.
⚠️ Think Hyperinsulinism = the leading cause of persistent low blood sugar in babies.
Listen to families. Early action saves lives.

🥰 We love seeing HI children and their siblings enjoying special moments together at our Fun Days.
Pippa had the best time driving her LEGO car at Legoland, moments like these remind us why connection, joy, and community matter so much.

⭐Meet Cillian. Full of energy and joy, but behind the fun, he faces a constant, hidden battle with Hyperinsulinism. Every day means constant care: blood glucose monitoring, urgent treatment of hypoglycaemia, medications, and overnight feeds.
We support HI families #HyperinsulinismUK
😴Sleep is a constant challenge in Congenital Hyperinsulinism.
Night-time blood glucose checks and feeds are exhausting, but they save lives by preventing dangerous hypoglycaemia.

In babies, hypoglycaemia can be hard to detect. Look for signs like breathing difficulties, seizures, or unresponsiveness—they could signal low blood sugar. Early Detection & Prompt Intervention is essential to avoid neurological harm #CongenitalHyperinsulinism #HyperinsulinismUK
⬆️⬇️Congenital Hyperinsulinism has a very important opposite HIGH insulin / LOW blood glucose!
In Congenital Hyperinsulinism insulin keeps being produced no matter what the blood sugar levels are. Leading to severe & unpredictable hypoglycaemia

From worrying about blood sugars to wondering what their friends might think, there’s so much going on in CHI Superheroes' minds. That’s why we are helping schools to understand how Hyperinsulinism impacts learning and to recognise the psychological effect it can have. #HyperinsulinismUK
Normally when a body is low in glucose ketones are formed as an alternative fuel to protect the brain. However in #Hyperinsulinism there is an absence of ketones and therefore a reliance on the circulating blood glucose to protect the brain. #HyperinsulinismUK
