Brice Böhmer, Global Lead - Climate and Environment at Transparency International, said: “One of the major problems surrounding these carbon offsets is that there is an inherent tension. There is a dual goal of protecting the planet by limiting emissions and making money.”
🌡️After the 2015 Paris Agreement, firms used carbon offsets to meet climate goals. But experts at #IACC2024 warned that fraud, bribes, and poor oversight make many carbon credits essentially worthless.
