Maryam Mirzakhani studied there.
If this isn't enough to cancel/relocate from the US the International Congress of Mathematicians #ICM2026, nothing will be.

Mathematical societies worldwide have THE DUTY to boycott #ICM2026.
The International Mathematical Union should step in, just as they did in 2022 and for the same excellent reasons.

Look I understand I keep saying we should move #ICM2026 and give different reasons, so I will not add this one. I will just say [redacted, but in Italian] I would be scared to travel to any country with such an (un)health policy.

PS I wouldn't go to #ICM2026 even if they had Alison Bechdel as artist in residence. But I would be SAD.

I am trying to build a firm list of reasons NOT to let #ICM2026 take place in Philadelphia, or more generally the USA, but I keep having to add items.
Also works as reasons not to attend.

I went out for two walks, a referendum vote, and a gelato, all of it wearing a too light coat (plus an intermediate layer) because the coat I wanted was unavailable.

I am Italian. We have the same R as the Russians, and the same havit of thinking that if a letter is written iy should also be pronounced.
On the other hand, if #ICM2026 is moved to Canada, I promise to learn to pronounce correctly Toronto, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Yesterday Lothar and I ate lunch outdoors, under a centuries old wall, right next to a canal. We also did maths on the train and were VERY puzzled by the results. They didn’t make sense for odd n.
Today I pointed out a detail we missed and he SMILED.

No one from outside the US should go to #ICM2026. No mathematical societies should send official delegations. Let them sit on their own, with the invited speakers they are paying for (at least those who can make it there safely) and NO ONE ELSE.
And pay through their nose for the empty rooms.
