From Youth to Professor, #IGF2024 marked a shift! Spoke on #AIinEducation, emphasizing shared accountability among stakeholders & the ethical use of AI in academia. Students' voices are crucial in shaping policy around these tools! We need to adapt education for the future. #FutureOfEducation

I have been attending online events all year, only traveling once for a multi-day hybrid meeting, and this was the first time I experienced the mix of failures that #IGF2024 had.

Much to be said about #IGF2024, but the host country having an offsite reception on Sunday open only to government representatives with yellow badges was a perfect representation of the multistakeholder model in action: some stakeholders are more equal than others!

There's mixed feedback on granting of visas for this meeting. Some very happy that it was easier than last year. Others still had problems & cited folks who weren't able to get visas in time.

#IGF2024 Vint Cerf: Have post-meeting analysis of audio problems that popped this week (amen!!!). Mixing online & in-person audio & translation, captioning & signing services is really hard. Also, consider different colored badges for people w special needs so we know they might need assistance.

During the #IGF2024 Main Session on the evolution of the IGF, Vint Cerf mentioned that we need the IGF as a permanent element of the ecosystem. That's an idea I've heard a lot these days.

We're nearing end of 4th day of #IGF2024, & it's clear the local host has no interest in making this event work well & for some reason, IGF secretariat isn't holding them accountable for upholding host country obligations. It's been utterly exhausting trying to follow these unsupported sessions.

#IGF2024 UN Potatocrime Treaty, N Ashton-Hart: Several Member States at the committee level & at 3rd committee when it was adopted by the first stage of UNGA, stated on record they'll treat every safeguard provision in this convention as entirely subject to their existing national legislation. 1/2
#IGF2024 UN Cybercrime Treaty, N Ashton-Hart: many developing states, who genuinely want to cooperate on cyber, have said US+EU joining the treaty is vital as that's where most data is. The key is to get States not to sign treaty as it stands, but use upcoming protocol negotiations to address flaws.
