I was awestruck by its infrastructure and urban amenities – a confluence of modern living while preserving its tradition, culture, and language. Listened to the speeches of South Korea's President, Prime Minister, and the speaker of the National Assembly.

We analyzed algorithmic migration governance as a laboratory for illiberalism, where states test more aggressive, less accountable, preemptive forms of control.
Despite being a self-declared purist, at #IPSA2025 I learned to appreciate iced coffee more than ever.

Still thinking about #IPSA2025 in #Seoul 🇰🇷 — a week of global exchange under stormy skies, vibrant neon lights & spicy kimchi.
Presenting on parliaments in the pandemic was great. But hearing how Speaker Woo described to us as he climbed the Assembly fence during the coup was something else.
Some particular highlights of #IPSA2025 were chairing an excellent panel on climate change and the state, hearing Professor Donatella della Porta's plenary address on academic freedom, and finding a potential publisher for a book based on my PhD thesis - stay tuned for more on that!
