We’re now handing #ISB15 over to the next team! It’s been a pleasure hosting such a wonderful symposium and meeting all of you. Stay tuned for updates about the next one! ✨
@nargolestani.bsky.social and @vborghesani.bsky.social co-chaired the symposium on ‘The bi-literate brain: behavioural, neural, and genetic insights into recent evolutionary adaptations’ at #ISB15 in Donostia-San Sebastián last week, supported by @nccrlanguage.bsky.social.
Inspiring days at #ISB15 🌊☀️—huge thanks to the organisers! 📸 of our own @ccunninghamyork.bsky.social (& her team) presenting on #multilingual learners in (pre)primary #education & @mattinshambles.bsky.social (& Dr Meddegama) on #translanguaging at @yorkstjohn.bsky.social’s Community Language School

What a great keynote by @roberthartsuiker.bsky.social to end #ISB15. Food for thought about what seemed to be an established idea in the field. Time to go back home after an inspiring conference.
#ISB15 is officially over! 😢 Special thanks to @antjestoehr.bsky.social, Leire and Oihana for the amazing work they’ve done organising this conference, it wouldn’t have been possible without them ❤️ Safe travels and many thanks to all attendees! And… see you in Saskatoon! #ISB16
Our very last keynote is here — but our brains are still switched on! 🧠 Prof. Robert Hartsuiker @roberthartsuiker.bsky.social (Ghent University) asks, is bilingual lexical access really language non-selective? A mind-twisting finale to our conference journey! #ISB15
In the final keynote of #ISB15, Robert Hartsuiker @roberthartsuiker.bsky.social is re-examining a question at the heart of #psycholinguistic research on #bilingual language processing: Is bilingual lexical access really language non-selective?
Let's find out.
@isbilingualism.bsky.social

Keynote by Professor Elizabeth D. Peña on assessing #DLD in #bilingual children and busting myths:
Bilinguals score in the normative mean in at least one language. There is no "bilingual delay" & bilinguals with DLD are not double delayed.
Look at #individualdifferences, not group averages.

Following up with today’s last keynote talk from Prof. Emerita Jasone Cenoz (University of the Basque Country) on multilingualism, minority languages and translanguaging. Inspiring reflections on linguistic diversity and education! 💭 #Translanguaging #ISB15
Rowena Garcia is presenting research at #ISB15 showing that #crosslinguistic #priming occurs across #typologically unrelated languages & without overlap of constituent order. The degree of overlap modulated the magnitude of the effect.
