Image of asteroid Ida and its moon, Dactyl, captured by the Galileo spacecraft. Ida, a potato-shaped asteroid about 36 miles long, is shown with its tiny moon, Dactyl (approximately 1 mile across), orbiting it. This was the first discovery of an asteroid with a moon.
