Bill Ready to Phase Out Foreign Adoption and Simplify Identity Restoration The cabinet is putting a bill out for consultation that will permanently prohibit foreign adoptions and make it easier for adoptees and others to restore their identity and obtain ancestry information from adoption files. The Council of Ministers approved this on the proposal of State Secretary Rutte of Justice and Security. Foreign adoptions will end definitively by late 2030. Until then, ongoing procedures will continue under previously established stricter safeguards and controls. At the same time, name changes will be made simpler and cheaper, and it will be possible to revoke an adoption at a later age.

Wetsvoorstel gereed om adoptie uit het buitenland af te bouwen en identiteitsherstel eenvoudiger te maken Het kabinet laat een wetsvoorstel in consultatie gaan dat adoptie uit het buitenland definitief niet meer toestaat én dat het gemakkelijker maakt voor geadopteerde mensen en anderen om hun identiteit te herstellen en afstammingsinformatie te verkrijgen uit het adoptiedossier. De minsterraad heeft dit besloten op voorstel van staatssecretaris Rutte van Justitie en Veiligheid. Eind 2030 zullen adopties uit het buitenland definitief stoppen. Tot die tijd worden lopende procedures vervolgd onder eerder ingestelde strengere waarborgen en controles. Tegelijkertijd wordt naamswijziging eenvoudiger en goedkoper gemaakt en wordt het ook op latere leeftijd mogelijk een adoptie te herroepen.
