Today is not only #ValentinesDay. It’s 16 years ago that I followed my (American) wife to her homeland. So, let’s celebrate my #DeportationDay from #TheNetherlands or my #ImmigrationDay into the USA. Just don’t forget… 😀

1/x just one more short thread on #immigrationday. There's an idea, on the right, of the UK being colonised by migrants, coming here and taking over, creating no-go areas. Some even talk of "white settlers" moving to rural areas threatening "indigenous" culture & ways of life.

9/x History shows us time & again how this can lead to very dark places. So, on #immigrationday, we who believe in it, need to show how much we value immigration. I'm proud of what my mum has done for the UK. She's given her life to this country. #celebrateimmigration ENDS

1/x It's #immigrationday on Number 10's preposterous grid. I support immigration. I'm an immigrant's son, so you'd expect that. I believe Immigration enhances our culture. But it's also basic demographics. The post-war baby boom bulge is working its way through the population.
