My great-great-grandmother. She sold shoes in a small shop. We don't even have a photo of her and but for a weird string of coincidences, I wouldn't be sitting here today. Never again, no matter where, no matter what skin colour, gender or (non-)belief. #InternationalHolocaustDay
The infamous gate of Auschwitz taken by myself in 2025
The barbed wire fences between the barracks in Auschwitz
Never again was meant to mean never again to anyone anywhere. To me it still does.
#InternationalHolocaustDay
It's International Holocaust Day. As always, I light a candle and think of the family members lost; killed before I was born. Never again has to mean never again... everywhere.
#InternationalHolocaustDay
I wanted to share a few pictures of Margot Frank. She was the older sister of Anne Frank. When the attic they were hiding in was raided by the nazis , they were taken to a concentration camp where they both later died from typhus. #NeverForget #internationalHolocaustDay
FB is not permitting me to share this:

It is a picture of International Holocaust Day.

Never again.

Today's a good day to check out "The U.S. and the Holocaust" by Ken Burns on PBS.
If you're not a documentary person, there's always "Boy in the Striped Pajamas" and "Schindler's List."
Any other recommendations?

2/ We're once again in a dangerous world of "othering" people and misinformation (formerly known as propaganda.) We can't let this happen again. #InternationalHolocaustDay
HUMAN COST Some 1.3 million people were deported to Auschwitz. More than 1.1 million were murdered there, of which one million were Jews. Most were killed on arrival in the death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in specially built gas chambers. Some 75,000 ethnic Poles were also murdered in Auschwitz, together with 21,000 Roma and Sinti, 15,000 Soviet POWs, and 10-15,000 political opponents of the Nazis. Smaller numbers of gay men, criminals, and Jehovah's Witnesses were also killed. As with all other Nazi concentration camps, the SS - short for Schutzstaffel, or Protection Squad — ran Auschwitz. It was a Nazi paramilitary organisation under the command of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler. Himmler received authority from Adolf Hitler to destroy all political and so-called racial enemies of the Nazi regime. Auschwitz played a central role in these crimes.
The railway network built and extended to kill people in an industrial scale. Unimaginably evil.
So the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz and #InternationalHolocaustDay
We saw an exhibition #SeeingAuschwitz in London about 3 years ago.
I had hoped we’d live in a kinder, better, more equitable world. I still have that hope and that aim.
The days of #InternationalHolocaustDay are probably numbered under a Musk reign. He has inserted himself in various countries, not satisfied with just ruling the US.
