Any thoughts from our #archaeological friends and colleagues on the nature of this object? We think its likely related to either iron or glass smelting and is very similar to a find from another Roman site we have.

Any suggestions most welcome!

1851 England census. Class: HO107; Piece: 2025; Folio: 532; Page: 14

Can anyone help me to confirm/elucidate an occupation from 1851 & 1861? Most of the people in the area (West Bromwich) were in #ironworking. Does this say 'cover maker' and if so, what sort of covers do you think they were making? (or were they covering something in a manufacturing process?)
