snip of the chapters beginning, reading: Izzy nearly forgets his line when he spots Fang in the New Unicorn's drag night audience. Sitting at their crew's usual table, he looks like he belongs exactly there, amidst Izzy's queer little family. With Jim, who's already done with their number, and Archie and Oluwande, while Pete carries a tray of drinks over to the table and sits down as well. Leaving a chair for Lucius, who had the opening set and is already out of drag, talking to Swede at the bar. He'd known Fang was in town, of course – visiting to check on Ma Black's dog, making sure his former foster was happy, healthy and well cared for in her new home. And while Pete and Lucius had made it to the Black's house as well, Izzy had been stuck at work forever, before rushing back home and getting ready for the drag show. He'd felt so bad for turning down the dinner invitation and not being able to meet Fang, but apparently his old friend had meant it when he texted back that Izzy's shouldn't worry about it.
Sorry for the delay, but for everyone who's been waiting: CH28 of Tales is up, in which Fang visits the New Unicorn and Izzy gets a present.

The night before, remembering something from his childhood when he used to visit, he went into the loft and rooted through the dusty boxes and found what he was looking for, an old biscuit tin with his Action Man and spare clothes, thankfully not thrown away. Going through the box he found a pair of black Action Man trousers and a dark camouflage shirt. Turning them inside out, he sewed up the inside seams to make them smaller and by the time he’d finished, had a perfectly acceptable set of clothes for your slightly shorter than average fairy. They fit surprisingly well, his wings slipping easily through the two slits he made in the back, much the same as Frenchie has in his tunic, but whereas Frenchie looks adorable and cute, Izzy is delighted to see that he looks quite badass. I am a combat fairy, he thinks to himself, unable to help a giggle escaping.
Sitting, comfortably naked, alongside him on a brightly painted mushroom ornament beside the pond, Frenchie looks at him sideways, a mischievous little look on his face.

This is a very silly love story. It’s silly because it’s about a fairy and they are usually very silly creatures. They are also sweet and playful and sexy and when they fall in love it is with their entire heart and it is forever. The fairy in our story is called Frenchie, and he lives in a fairy burrow in the New Forest in the south of England. Fairies like living underground, often in abandoned badgers sets as they feel safe and warm. They mostly live communally but sleep in their own little chambers, carved out within the burrow, on soft beds of moss and rose petals, that strangely never seem to fade. Most of them do not have magic in the accepted sense, but they are creatures of magic, and magical things can happen when you fall in love with one.

Snip from the fic, reading: Frenchie rummages through his pockets, then presents a rumpled piece of paper that gets snatched away by Jim before Izzy can even catch a glimpse of it. “Sounds fun,” they declare, studying the flyer before checking their phone's calendar. “Want to give it a try, viejo? Think you can manage lifting a sledgehammer without breaking your back?” Izzy glowers at them, grumbling. “I'm well used to physical labour, you little shit. You'll give up first, kid.” Jim grins, shrugs, pushes the piece of paper towards him. “We'll see about that.” Laughing, Frenchie turns away to tend to another customer, apparently pleased with what he has set in motion.
Ch27: small steps of "Tales from the past" is up, in which Izzy finds chances and people to ground him during therapy-break and is trusted with intimate talks.
