Poppy surveying part of the drainage ditch
Poppy following an old sheep trail
I'd dropped her 25' long leash at this point, I should have put her on harness so she could run more unencumbered
The culverts and a few spots along the fence would allow her to get out so it's not safe to have them all off-leash yet
Poppy is a good listener but her mom was hit by a car (and lived! It was my exe's fault) so she mostly stays on leash for my nerves
Ruby, Truffle, Cherry
We went out to the "sacrifice" paddock for the first time in a long time and there were vole holes everywhere!!
Ruby is still back there hunting while the Jacks and I have come in
It's called a sacrifice paddock because it's the paddock we turn animals out in early spring/late fall, which puts a lot of pressure on the grass in it, but keeps the livestock from getting too eager about getting out into the big pasture before it's ready
Truffle
They didn't catch anything but I'm sure Ruby will
Note: my dogs wear GPS collars, those are NOT corrective devices
We came in a little earlier than I wanted to because my phone battery died, so if they did get out of the field I wouldn't have been able to track them so headded back in just to be safe
Truffle does NOT listen and even once all the holes are fixed it's unlikely I'll be able to let her off leash until she's an old lady, and maybe even not then
She's a good dog
Probably going to be sore and regret this tomorrow, but it was so nice I had to take the dogs for walks in the paddock
