Thank you very much for participating in the Japanese Pixelart Cityscape project! After 2 years and several contributions, we finally filled the two streets with several buildings! Specific credits in this site: sites.google.com/view/jp-pixe...
Pixel art with limited palette depicting a two storey building found somewhere between Kiyosumi Park & Mitsukoshimae in Japan.
My attempt at recreating a building somewhere between Kiyosumi Park and Mitsukoshimae, as part of a collaborative project called #JPPixelCity via @gors.bsky.social using a palette from #rejectedpalettes #pixelart

a bald man leans bored against the railing of a bookstore building. He has a lit cigarette. The lights of the building are faulty, and the AC is on.
Another tiny building for the #JPPixelCity hosted by @gors.bsky.social (this one moves but you'll never know unless you see it on the website so go check it out!

Pixel art drawing of a brown two-storey building. There is signs of weather - overgrowth, vines, rust and broken window glass. The sign in yellow says, in Japanese, "Machine Factory" (機械工)
The same building as before, next to a Crab Restaurant featuring a giant crab-shaped sign (created by gors.bsky.social) and a small yellow shop with several posters glued on the walls (created by playa.bsky.social)
Thanks, @rayfrutos.bsky.social, for making a building for #JPPixelCity art activity! What a cool design, I love the textures on the walls, metal and how it seems to tell a story.

Two pixel art buildings. The left one is a crab restaurant with a giant crab decoration on the front; the right one is a small shop with several posters and signs on the glass door.
#JPPixelCity two new additions to the second part of the street! Thanks for the collaboration, @playa.bsky.social! Please refer to the link on the reply to learn how to contribute to the art activity! #PixelArt #ドット絵

Pixel art of a street with several Japanese buildings. On the bottom half of the picture, an empty street with several arrows saying "build here!"
Pixel art building "STG Max". A game arcade shop with a big one-eyed alien decoration is hanging on top of a red building, with several pink lightbulbs on the façade. Many arcade cabinets can be seen next to the door.
#JPPixelCity @sosadillatron.bsky.social contributed with another lovely building, "STG Max"! We filled the street so much that I chose to open up another one! Thanks for the continued support! #PixelArt #ドット絵
I submitted another building: STG MAX ゲームセンタ
I might tweak the sign a bit more, but I'm otherwise super happy with this. It would be cool to animate it, but that'll take a huge chunk of time and I kinda want to move to the next thing.

#JPPixelCity We got two new buildings, made by @sosadillatron.bsky.social and @mayke-arth.bsky.social (images 2 and 3). Thanks a lot! If you want to be part of this art activity, please visit the official site on the reply! #PixelArt
I think I'm done touching this :P . "Mini Kimagure" for the #JPPixelCity project. It's inspired by an actual location (Kimagure Eriko) in the Taito City district of Tokyo.
Second image is the result of tossing it into one of my old Unity projects that uses a heavily tweaked CRT renderer.
#pixelart
Hey people, just made another one for our street!
#JPPixelCity #pixelart
My building was added to this wonderful collection! It's the one on the right, "Bug Fix", a computer repair shop!
#JPPixelCity #pixelart
WIP of a piece for the #JPPixelCity . I have some original building ideas, but I thought my 1st attempt should be something inspired by an actual location. I was using Google Maps to walk around Taito City and this corner bar(?) caught my eye (Kimagure Eriko). #pixelart
My goal in this site is to make and share stuff that positively inspires people to be more creative, I feel ecstatic when people make art using @rejectedpalettes.bsky.social and participating in #JPPixelCity. It feels awesome to have a positive impact in this community!
Pixel art drawing of a street with several different buildings made by several artists. The space on the left has an arrow with the text "Build Here!"
#JPPixelCity two more buildings were sent in by @spiraledout.bsky.social and @selenephy.bsky.social! The street is looking more and more lively - just look at it! Thanks a lot for the contributions! #PixelArt
Q: Can I reference real-life brands in my art? A: Yes, but we do not recommend it. This is a free and non-profit art activity so be aware that using real-life company names can be problematic. Otherwise we will not outright reject submissions that have real-life brands in them. Q: Can I make bigger buildings by joining two (or more) buildings together? A: No. We want the street to look as diverse as possible, and making a building that is noticeably too big compared to the others may upset other collaborators.
#JPPixelCity New update on the site FAQ referring to building sizes and brand references.
So far those cases did not happen, but in order to prevent confusion and future-proof the next submissions, I've written it down. Thanks for cooperating!

Decided to challenge myself by doing two shop fronts, making them as accurate to the reference as I could while still keeping within my style and perimeters set. Thank you to @mayke-arth.bsky.social and @gors.bsky.social for putting on the #JPPixelCity project here on bsky! #pixelart
Decided to use some reference from the town I lived in for 7 years while I was in Japan, Kitakata, for my #JPPixelCity storefronts. Finished (?) pieces coming soon!
Hey guys (I'm back posting😅) a while ago @gors.bsky.social and I had an idea to do a little study and draw some buildings in pixel, so he organized everything to make this collaborative project that anyone could make their own buildings to compose a little street, here's mine

Pixel art drawing of a Japanese gyoza restaurant in six different palettes.
#JPPixelCity @windfallapples.bsky.social noticed palettes 1 and 6 were identical. I've fixed with the correct palette. Sorry for the mistake. I ask you to choose your favorite palettes again (1 to 6). #PixelArt
#JPPixelCity I have updated the official site's FAQ with more details now that the ball is rolling. Please refer to it if you have any doubts about the Art Activity.

A Japanese gyoza restaurant, made with six different palettes.
#JPPixelCity I'm starting off the art activity with the first building, but I need your help. Choose the palette you like the most (1 to 6). The most voted one will be the one we'll use for the entire art piece. Once the palette is chosen I'll update the site with more details on style. #PixelArt
