Today is the anniversaries of Irish artist James Barry (1741-1806) & Anglo-Irish writer Elizabeth Bowen (1899-1973). Bowen's portrait is currently loaned to Doneraile Court as part of our Touring & Sharing program.

Thank you, it’s interesting reading the diary on here. He’s annoying at times and whiney but seeing the day to day thoughts of #JamesBarry and ebb and flow of a life and brief (ish) time period is great.
It’s like reading todays news but #JamesBarry was writing 150 years ago. With what’s going on over the border with RFK jr and the dragging out of the struck off and disgraced Wakefield to redo debunked vax studies. Many won’t be living long in this world either.

I now have another rabbit hole to go down. #jamesbarry is the gift that keeps on giving ( in a good way)

My kids are now having a conversation on Xmas day about who was still working in pounds in Canada at this time and who wasn’t and how confusing it must have been. But it’s nice to see #jamesbarry is happy today.

This stuff about #JamesBarry is reminding me of something @redrocketpanda said at #nineworlds last year which amounted to this (paraphrasing because I didn't get the exact quote down):
