The Researcher is a scientist and is often wearing a lab coat so white became associated with him and now I imagine him with whiter hair (he is old) and a white walking stick 👀

Circles don't play a big part in either series, though, the siren commune near Tearhan (Ungovernables) has a circular pool filled with warm water. It's shallow and meant for the half-aquatic children to learn how to swim.
