Sensoji Temple. I almost didn't go because I thought it was a tourist trap but I am glad I saw it. Even though it was very busy there were still quiet spots and the temple was beautiful.

If you are in Kyoto and are interested in bushido/samurai culture, then you should go to Samurai Kenbu for a sword lesson like my son did in 2018. He really enjoyed it, and it wasn't that expensive.

For some reason I see some travel influencers say Tokyo Skytree is overrated, but for my money there's no better place to get panoramic views of the biggest city on earth. Definitely worth the hype.

For me I'd say Nara! The temples and shrines there are absolutely beautiful (and you can't understand the scale of the giant Buddha unless you see him in person) and it's fun to have deer hanging out with you!
