Snowy hike, #JayCookeStatePark #Minnesota
Night hike with Luna in fairly fresh snow at #JayCookeStatePark
The park was closed Sat-Wed for a special deer hunt, so very few people had been out to help pack down the trail since the last 2 snow falls. This is from the Ogantz trail look out, looking south (I think) towards Wrenshall?
The bright yellow of the birch trees almost glows in the sunlight
The trees are on fire #๐ฅ

My argument for why fall is the bestest season:

The fall colors up in Jay Cooke State Park
#JayCookeStatePark is absolutely stunning. We did a 6 mile hike before driving back down to the cities

It's getting pretty close to peak leaves around here. #Duluth #JayCookeStatePark #Minnesota
A view of the wall of the Thomson Dam with one of the causeways open, viewed from a bluff across the river and then between several trees.
The #ThompsonDam outside of Carlton #Minnesota. This is above #JayCookeStatePark. It was a good day for some new #LandscapePhotography up north. #Scape #EastCoastKin
a natural edit of the rapids on the St. Louis River in Jay Cooke State Park. The scene includes the cascade of the water over rocks creating several waterfall type features with the background of forest and sky
same photo as previous; however, this this is done in high colors of teals and pinks and bright greens. Giving an almost painting like feeling. Edited in Adobe Lightroom to achieve these colors by adjusting the color wheels in the midtones, shadows, and highlights. Saturation was reduced however, vibrancy was also increased.
Lets try this again, same photo two different editing styles. I love doing higher color edits. Sometimes I just wanna see nature differently. This is the St. Louis River under #JayCookeStatePark swinging bridge. #Minnesota #sota #NorthShore #Hiking #Outdoors #Photography #EastCoastKin
impressive rapids following the dam above Jay Cooke State Park. Midway down is a wave that I am sure would have towered over my 6'4" frame caused by water hitting rock.
another edit of the rapids. these are a bit more gray than green. The water much whiter that it was in the moment.
This area where water funneled between a crack in the earth creating a violent rapid. Looks kinda fun for a small enough craft
A closer view of the rapids below the damn. The area where the water is released is in the background.
Some #Photography from today's hike up north. I ended up at #JayCookeStatePark in #Minnesota. Although, not a true #waterfall. These rapids following the dam were impressive. All I could think of were old raft guide friends, from a life long gone. #WaterfallWednesday #Nature #rapids #whitewater
Later afternoon hike ... #JayCookeStatePark
The sun and our dog Luna in one direction.
The other Luna in the opposite direction ... well from the phase it's more like 90-100 degrees opposite.

I like staying at the Slate cabin at Jay Cooke State Park because of the big rocks next to it. I also hiked the White Pine trail. Some ice and mud, but still a nice walk.
