Just wanna write a thread about fun stuff from hockey this season, but buncha jerks spent the Sat league final trying to take me out and my body's really feeling it. I am grumpy about this.

Woo, 1-0 win. Felt like absolute poop first period; stronger as the game went on. I made a great save from behind the goalie in 3rd, which always feels good. All good, no hands were involved.

ANYWAY. Random hockey nonsense aside: still no idea how so many players play with their skate tongue outside their shinguard. I don't even like how it feels when sitting in the room! Can't imagine skating like this.

I, uh, might be playing an *ambitious* amount of hockey this year and right stoked. Some weeks may involve being on the ice north of 4x. Sure do wish fuel prices weren't so stupid rn since I'll be travelling more for it all. #JennHockey 🥅🏒🎉
My personal favourite "OSHIT"s are the "omg she really did actually shoot on her own goalie" ones. Everyone in our various shinny groups is prepared for this eventuality, for it happens with alarming regularity. Nothing wrong with her eyesight! Sometimes she just gets excited ^_^ #JennHockey 🥅🏒

An immediate and obvious consequence of this is a bit of excess lace. Perhaps my laces were a smidge long to begin with. So now I have comically giant bows 🎀!!

As a lifelong "tight laces, all the way up" player, I've resisted the transition to "go loose(r) for increased mobility". While playing *extremely* casual hockey this summer, now's the time to try dropping an eyelet.
No matter how grumpy I am before hockey, it always improves my day
Also witnessed a returning-from-injury player attempt to put on her gear in a fascinating order. Perhaps I should not have interrupted, but had to ask what her strategy was when she put on the helmet before the jersey :D #JennHockey
