We had Fergus’ brother Brodie and labradoodles Sally and Rosie staying for five days. They all had such a great time visiting the beach on our walks at West Barns on John Muir way. Fergus and Brodie get on so well when they get together. 😊

Fergus will take a stick or ball and drop it in the sea or river in this case, to tease me rather than give me it back. This is him today having a great time keeping my stick. 😎 He is such a fun dog. 😊

Rode the John Muir way from Edinburgh to Bo'ness and back. Saw ponies, sheep, deer, and horses. Made a brief stop at Blackness castle. It's a beautiful scenic bike path and I would highly recommend this route. 65 KM in total. #edinburgh #johnmuirway #blacknesscaatle

We're thrilled to unveil the route map for our fundraising 5K! Starting at the playpark, runners head east to the wildflower meadow, loop back west along #JohnMuirWay, cross the harbour bridge, and move towards the nature reserve. A breathtaking photograph captures the sunrise over Dunbar, marking the beginning of a 136-mile coast-to-coast charity walk from Dunbar to Helensburgh. The image showcases the sun’s golden rays illuminating the tranquil waters of the North Sea, with the historic Dunbar Harbour in the foreground. Fishing boats rest peacefully, and the sky is painted with hues of orange and pink, reflecting off the calm sea surface.

This momentous day coincided with the photographer’s birthday, adding personal significance to the journey. The walk follows the John Muir Way, a long-distance trail named after the renowned naturalist John Muir, who was born in Dunbar. The route spans diverse landscapes, from coastal cliffs and sandy beaches to rolling farmlands and urban settings, offering a comprehensive experience of Scotland’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Embarking on this journey for charity not only provided an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for a meaningful cause but also allowed for personal reflection and connection with Scotland’s rich history. The sunrise over Dunbar symbolizes a new beginning, setting the tone for the challenges and triumphs that lay ahead on the path to Helensburgh.

This image serves as a reminder of the profound experiences that await when one steps out of their comfort zone, embraces the spirit of adventure, and commits to making a positive impact in the world.

Do you know about John Muir?

The John Muir Way passes through Edinburgh, but it starts at his birthplace in Dunbar.

Worth checking him out, and the route that carries his name…
