When Miyuki finally awoke, it was on the cold exam table in Shoko’s part of the school. Her head was throbbing, and her muscles ached. She still felt some parts of Shoko’s technique within her, like something mending her. She’d always been hyperaware of it whenever her old classmate had healed her, and it hadn’t gotten any more comfortable as an adult. Shoko was sitting in a chair next to her, smoking the last part of her cigarette, looking like she needed 2 days worth of sleep. Her soft brown hair framed her thin face, her mouth relaxing into a smile as she saw Miyuki wake up. “Glad you woke up. You had us scared for a second.” She got up and extended a hand to Miyuki. “What happened?” Miyuki winced as her back tensed slightly while she rose. “Your new little friend has a strange technique, it’d seem.” “Sachiko?” “When you grasped her hand, something knocked you out like a light.” Shoko grabbed another blanket for Miyuki, before folding her arms and leaning against the wall. “Obviously, Utahime can’t do that, so it was probably the kid. While I was examining her, her energy was all over the place, unfocused.” “So the lack of balance and concentration…” “…knocked you out. That’s probably how she killed the curses before you and Utahime came in.”
