TIL that bombazine is a cloth made with a silk warp and a worsted wool weft. Not used nowadays, it was a heavy fabric used for skirts and jackets and found commonly in mourning wear.
Thanks to #JosiahBancroft and his book The Hod King.

#WhatIAmReading redux.
I also just finished "Senlin Ascends," the 1st book in #JosiahBancroft 's The Tower of Babel tetralogy.
This was one of favorite reads of the year and is highly recommended.

First impression: artless, and heavy with exposition. The book does improve somewhat (mostly due to the personalities of hexologists Iz and Warren Wilby). At best, however, it’s still just a time-filler, a cosy enough fantasy mystery but nothing to write home about. #TheHexologists #JosiahBancroft
