Thank you for reaching out to express your concerns regarding Medicaid. I appreciate your engagement on this important issue and your commitment to advocating for those who rely on this essential program.

As you know, Medicaid provides crucial health insurance coverage to over 80 million individuals, including children and people with disabilities. For many families, it is a lifeline that offers necessary care and support. I believe we have a duty to strengthen the integrity of the program, reduce improper payments, and modernize Medicaid delivery systems.

This issue is personal for me since I was adopted at eight months old out of Children's Home Society of Virginia in Richmond. My birth mother’s choice to put me up for adoption gave me more opportunities than she felt she could provide. We need responsible reforms to the program that prioritize fiscal responsibility and state flexibility.. I want to fix our broken Medicaid system so we can ensure vulnerable members like my birth mother get the care they need.

In Congress, my colleagues and I are focused on promoting reforms that manage costs effectively while maintaining the integrity of Medicaid. In a letter* sent to House leadership, I was proud to emphasize that balancing the federal budget must not come at the expense of children, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and pregnant women who rely on Medicaid for their health and economic security. This includes advocating for greater state flexibility in how Medicaid is administered, allowing local governments to make decisions that address the unique needs of their communities regarding eligibility, benefits, and funding.

#JustOneQuestion for #VA01 #RobWittman about oversight of these Trump/Musk/DOGE cuts to healthcare in the budget crap bill, and he wrote me this.

He linked a letter he sent, (link in alt)...

Let's see how the "strong support" and "urge" manifests as his vote on that kid-starving budget bill.
