That first season was meh and I attribute this to the villain, who just comes off as overly intelligent, smug, and really a douche. I don't like villains who have no clear motive and act like a jerk all the time.
Thankfully, Season 2 promises to be way more engaging.

Maybe it comes back around the last couple episodes (I’m on ep 6) but having Willa in the first few episodes and then leave to be with her mom feels like they got tired of fitting her into the story #justifiedcityprimeval
