Ustaz Abu Syafiq’s damages for KJ defamation reduced from RM2.5 million to RM830,000
KUALA LUMPUR: Independent preacher Ustaz Abu Syafiq, who was ordered to pay RM2.5 million in damages for defaming former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, breathed a sigh of relief when the Court of Appeal here on Thursday reduced the amount to RM830,000. A three-judge panel chaired by Datuk Mohamed Zaini Mazlan made this decision after allowing the appeal filed by Abu Syafiq, or his full name Mohd Rasyiq Mohd Alwi, 46, regarding the amount of damages.
