'Ghost Walk' is a secret legacy mechanic from the original #Kalawaum game, that #ruinsOfCalaworm is based on. It was on and off during development; never really found a meaningful way to integrate it with the expanded mechanics - until now, that is.

Really getting shit done, these days! 😎🤓
Highscores are a WRAP! Interface code was just a couple of If-statements, and preventing the Highscore Display Routine deleting ui-Elements, thus greeting you back to a full black Menu Screen.

Aaaaand, another layout finished for #ruinsOfCalaworm. Now got 16 maps, for the generator to choose from, when assembling a New World. This one's a replica from classic #Kalawaum, with some tinkering and adjustments, to make use of Calaworm's extended mechanics.

Horst Werner, the dev of the classic #Kalawaum game, on which #ruinsOfCalaworm core mechanics are based upon, has granted me access to the very first, oldest version of the game.
Can't drop items here, saving costs 50 gold, and the game is just brutal (you encounter Dragons on the first stage). 😅

Translation of the story of "Die Gemäuer von Kalawaum" - the obscure german cult game from early 90s (the ATARI ST-port was a lot more popular), whose basic Dungeon Crawler mechanics inspired the creation of #ruinsOfCalaworm.
#Kalawaum was coded in TurboPascal, "Calaworm" in PureBasic.

Having a blast writing Monster Lore for #ruinsOfCalaworm. Roughly half of all pages for the forbidden tome of "Unaussprechlichen Kulten" are now finished ...

Next up is calculation and display of the Highscore. It's only going to be a local list, but classic #Kalawaum had it as well, and it's a nice and elegant way to make excess currency mean something, at the end.

Friendly reminder that #ruinsOfCalaworm is based on a very old german Dungeon Crawler from early 90s, called "Die Gemäuer von #Kalawaum".
The thing I played in my teen years, and fell in love with on my ATARI ST, looked like this:

Happiest occasion for me is always when s.o. tells me that they found my game, because they played and loved original #Kalawaum game back in early 90s.
Not a lot of us left, lol. 😅
My mission is to recreate the experience not in a meticulously accurate manner, but rather how I remember it.
