That was by no means how Kunikida had envisioned himself doing it years ago, back when mostly planning but also low-key fantasizing about his ideal future; barely any of the specific details were exactly on his notebook, the same way Dazai fulfilled little to none of the requirements he had noted down his ideal partner should have. But, of course, he had also realized time ago none of those were actually realistic and he was better off following his heart more in that realm, or else he wouldn’t be clearing his throat right then to start out. “I’d like to tell you something.” Well, what an awful start-- Dazai’s following joke was a deserved one, in fact. “What, you got us take-out so you can break up with me?” It was crystal clear he didn’t believe that, and just in case his tone wasn’t proof enough, he was already on the way to lift up a hand dramatically to his own chest.
“You’re impossible.” Kunikida instantly replied, more fond than annoyed, as he moved to take that hand between his just as fast. Right now, the slight trembling was more due to nervousness than having a bad ‘you blew up your own hands in a reckless endeavor and might still deal with the consequences forever’ day. “I’ve been thinking about how, back to our first case, I said I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. This applies to life too, and not just work.” Yes, Dazai hadn’t stopped testing his patience in any of those two roles, but that was beyond the point right then. “And I… I’d like for that to be a constant, as in-- for us to keep being together. Forever.” “My, my, Kunikida-kun.” At that point of their relationship, they weren’t strangers to being on a first name basis, but Dazai would still always resort to calling him that when somewhat (or downright) teasing; some things never changed. “This sounds a lot like a marriage proposal.” “Well… I’d sure hope so.” He continued, holding on tighter to his partner’s hands. A ring would have to wait, because even if Kunikida had obviously gotten one in advance, doing so much as reaching into his pocket felt like breaking the magic of the moment right then. “Dazai Osamu, would you marry me?” The first answer he got was one of those characteristic smirks that could say a lot if one knew to decipher them. He, obviously, did know. “I thought you’d never ask.”

Even with bandages still on, naked Dazai still felt-- strange. Not in a bad sense per se, because damn if Kunikida didn’t like what he was seeing, but… like having been granted visions of wonders he was only allowed to marvel at from a distance. As if getting closer would break the magic of the moment, even. And speaking of Dazai… “It’s okay,” He told him, with a smirk which was equally teasing and soft. “you can touch me.” Between his partner being diabolically smart and Kunikida himself being an open book to most but especially him, the fact it almost seemed like his thoughts had been read word for word didn’t come as a surprise. Not just that, but it also encouraged him to not limit himself to staring. “Alright.” He whispered, taking the necessary steps forward to bring himself towards Dazai’s side. The first place Kunikida’s hands went, trembling a little but overall behaving pretty good, were to his partner’s face, cupping it before initiating quite the passionate kiss.
Of course, Dazai took no time in following his lead, kissing him back with the same hunger and enthusiasm. They were actually engaging in what counted as a second kiss when one of Kunikida’s hands abandoned its previous position, sliding down brushing Dazai’s torso and not stopping until reaching his thigh, grabbing onto it both just for the sake of it and with the following objective of wrapping that leg (his partner’s bad leg, also) around his waist; a gesture he knew was equally enticing and convenient in terms of support. “Not like I’m complaining, by the way. But… we could just get into bed.” Was the next thing Dazai said, smirking even more. Then, as if there was any need for more convincing, which wasn’t the case, he went for yet another kiss-- that one pressed against Kunikida’s throat.
