Collage of two photographs placed side by side to show the differing lives of the uber-wealthy and domestic servants.
On the left is a view of the landing to Queen Victoria's private apartments at her summer residence, Osborne House. There are two beautifully decorated arches in creams, blues and golds, with layers of ornate coving above. A long red carpet lines the floor with a dark balustrade to the right protecting from any falls. Marble busts on tall plinths line the left wall.
The image on the right is so simple in comparison. Taken at the stunning, Elizabethan marvel of Gawthorpe Hall in the depths of Lancashire, it shows the worn stone, spiral steps leading down to the servants kitchens. Took this photograph leaning over from the top so it's a view from overhead. The light is minimal, from a window out of view.
