What a joy to be part of such an inspirational, diverse and inclusively minded 3 days at the first LICIE conference!

Overjoyed that a quote from one of my participants about addressing the ‘Double Empathy Problem’ was included in the live artwork 🤩

Hats off to everyone involved!

Powerful #LICIE2025 Day 2 keynote by Prof. Marcela Pozas on Differentiated Instruction (DI): vital for inclusion, but still rare in daily practice. Prof. Pozas called for better teacher training, more experimental and longitudinal research, and student voice. DI isn’t a luxury - it’s essential.

Insightful keynote by Prof. Kenneth Poon at #LICIE2025 on the inclusion of students with SEN in mainstream schools.
While many are learning academically, social inclusion remains a challenge.
To truly include, we must foster peer relationships and equip teachers to support social connection.

“There is so much more to a child’s language than the number of words a child knows”

Fascinating talk by Prof Cameron-Faulkner, explaining recent study looking at correlation between chronic health conditions in early childhood and language dev.

One of the overriding impressions I am getting from the research presented so far is that inclusion is hard.

The barriers are immense: social, cultural, societal

But when it works, it helps everyone.
