After a big third quarter from Lightning (18-11), Mavericks appeared to be under pressure, but they steadied with a strong last Q (16-9) to take a convincing win. POTM was Kim Brown who finished with 5 gains, 4 deflections and 3 rebounds.

1/2 time: MAV 35-26

A big half from Mavericks. From midway through the first Q, they got right on top of Lightning. Shimona Nelson has 32/35 and the whole team is working so well as a unit. The lead got out to 12 goals before Lightning scored the last 3.

Teams are in for the first of our Sunday SSN double-header. Lightning hosts the Mavericks in a game that has a big bearing on the top 4.

Stats from today's first game which saw Lightning take their 5th win of the season and maintain their spot in the top 3. For Mavericks, it was a disappointing result, particularly as they showed in the last quarter what they are capable of.

What a crazy last qtr. All of a sudden, Lightning's game went off, they started making errors and Mavericks came storming back. In the end, it was POTM Steph Fretwell who proved the difference. She shot 7/7 super shots to Mavs 7/18.

3/4 time: Lightning 57-41

Lightning dominated Q3 to move further ahead of a Mavericks team making WAY too many errors. Mavs had 9 turnovers in that Q. Liz Watson is having a cracker of a game. She's in everything. Fretwell has now landed 9 SS in a row.

1/2 time: Lightning 38-30

An entertaining game with Mavs improving in the 2nd Q before Lightning once again used the super shot to advantage. They've scored with their last 12 SS attempts including Fretwell 8/8! Not to be outdone, Shimona Jok scored one too.

A good start for Lightning. At one stage they led 7-2. Mavs fought back and levelled, but 2 Steph Fretwell super shots helped the home team regain some sort of control. Lightning has 5 gains already (Bruce 3). Mavericks have none.
