Finally watched the BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies. The young cast were great, but it was held back by some strange sound design and cinematography choices, which were reminiscent to 80’s apocalyptic drama, Threads. They just seemed out of place.

Just seen episode 3 of #LordOfTheFlies. Jesus Christ, this one put me through the wringer. Simon is my favourite character and Ike Talbut did him such justice. The things he can convey with just his eyes, omg. Amazing, brutal, awful episode. How this is still only rated 6.7 on IMDB is beyond me

The Brook film of #LordOfTheFlies was pretty faithful to the text; this Jack Thorne adaptation extrapolates a great deal, and is (in my view) perfectly justified in doing so. Will be interesting to see how young readers and teachers deal with the filmic additions.
