A wide shot of trees around the Bald Knob house. One tall eucalypt has a red arrow pointing to a spot about half way up its trunk, probably 20 - 30 metres up. It's the location of a hollow limb where a lace monitor (large goanna) sleeps.

A monitor body made of wood wool wrapped in beige yarn on a metal table. There are two bunches of loose wood wool in the background, as well as a pair of metal scissors and a black leather purse(?). The leather thing holds my tools, I don't know what it's called in English. The lighting in the photo is very warm and scenic.

The finished wood wool body (now with legs) on an empty metal table. It is posed as if walking. It has no head. (The skull is attached to the skin and will simply be attached to a few wires coming out the new bodies neck. This way I didn't have to mold a new head and risk destroying the heads skin by removing the skull)

A close up of the monitors head. Dark glass eyes have been inserted into the eye sockets and the skin has been pinned at the neck and chest with orange needles.

The underside of the monitor is shown. If the resolution is good enough you would be able to zoom in and see a line going down the center of the belly scales as well as each leg. I sewed the seam back together with a ladder stitch that is visible in only a few places where the scales were far enough apart to show it. The folds at the throat completely hide the cut I made to skin the animal, though it is also sewn shut.

Lace monitor WIPs:
1. The wood wool and wire body.
2. The finished body.
3. Draping and pinning the skin while molding the skin folds with clay.
4. Sewing the skin closed. I only had to glue a bit of the tail tip.

This is a lace monitor I mounted about 2 years ago. First reptile I did and an absolute joy to work on.
