Plot of the number of scientific papers published per year for Landsat in blue and Sentine-2 in orange. The number of articles increased sharply for Landsat in the 2010 years, but Sentinel2 increases even faster, although it started later. Landsat stopped progressing in the 2020, and Sentinel2 overtook in 2024.
I just figured out that #Sentinel2 overtook #Landsat in 2024, regarding the yearly amount of published scientific papers. We are still far behind concerning the total number of papers but it is still a remarkable achievement for #Copenicus and @esaearth.esa.int
