Good afternoon. Death Valley Super Bloom last month on #LandYacht #Trip11.
🌱 Desert Gold (Geraea canescens) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geraea_...
Salt flats www.nps.gov/deva/learn/n... in background.
Last American Road Trip is a great read, a delightful and insightful book by @sarahkendzior.bsky.social AND you should buy it.
As a #LandYacht (camper) retirement traveler, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good evening. One of the trains at Tucson Botanical Garden seen last month on #LandYacht #Trip11. Watched these for a half hour. Lol. When I was a kid, some kids thought my dad was the coolest because he was an engineer and they thought that meant train engineer. "Show us his hat!" 🤦♀️

Entrance to Frida Kahlo Garden at Tucson Botanical Gardens. There is a door size sepia photo of Kahlo as a baby sitting in a bird bath. There are potted Aloe plants nearby. Above the photo in large cursive writing is quote: I paint flowers so they will not die Frida

Good morning. Photos from last month's #LandYacht #Trip11 to Frida Kahlo www.fridakahlo.org Garden at Tucson Botanical Gardens
Frida's Garden was inspired by the iconic artist's garden and home, La Casa Azul www.atlasobscura.com/places/la-ca... in Mexico City

🔸️ Monument Valley

🔸️ Ponies!
This would have been our fourth trip to the park/campground, but we turned around because of dust devils.
Good evening. It was so hard to walk away from Tucson Botanical Gardens w/o buying 🌱 plants, so many succulents, cacti, and water-wise plants, all on display at entrance/exit.
But we can't travel with plants in the camper and I wasn't going to hold a plant in my lap for weeks
#LandYacht #Trip11
Good afternoon. Art seen last month at Tucson Botanical Garden #LandYacht #Trip11
🗿 Robert Wick's "G’s Horn,” bronze sculpture with living plants
🗿 Dinosaur, no ID marker on artist or info on website, a problem with most sculptures at this Garden
Thanks. This is really good info for us in planning next Westward Ho #LandYacht Trip, tho not this year.
Sunset over Pomme de Terre Lake, view from dining room window
First good looking sunset since we got back from #LandYacht #Trip11
Good afternoon. 🧵 Photo/Video Dump and 🤧 allergy tale of woe- Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11
Our last night was spent, unfortunately, at Salt Plains State Park OK. We'd sworn never to come back. But one bad short cut and two bad turns later, we were there trying to set up camp after dark.
1/
Flowering violet crocus, flowers are cup-like
Flowering three petal powder blue dwarf iris
Good morning. We traveled by #LandYacht 29 days thru 3 time zones and 8 states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas (bad turn twice). Came back to a wind damaged house.
But we also came back to a garden full of Spring pretties.
🌱 Crocus
🌱 Dwarf Iris
I bought small city/county newspapers in the many states we traveled to recently in the #LandYacht
I would really rather read up on all the volunteer fire dept fish fries/bbqs across the Plains and Southwest than catch up on national, Misery, and St. Louis news
Good evening. We are back at the lake. Thus concludes Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day29.
It appears that the gas war is over in Pittsburg Mo. Something big must have happened while we were gone. 😉 But, wow, an 86¢ price hike 🧐 Thanks, Trump Family & Friends Grift Inc.
Good morning. We should be back in Misery tonight and dealing with a wind damaged house. Sigh.
Here's a pretty 🌱 Gaillardia, Blanket Flower, to start our week. We saw this at Tucson Botanical Garden a couple weeks ago.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day29
Oh, hey, so we're really behind today and The Mr. found us some crappy road short cuts that take us by every 🐮 💩 CFO feed lot in northern Oklahoma.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day28
Good afternoon, again. We stopped in Guymon to lunch at our fave restaurant in OK Panhandle: Pollo El Ranchero
A guy with a guitar walked in to serenade. No one acknowledged him. Everyone averted eyes. 🧐
Then he started playing and singing. It was awful.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day28
Black Mesa Peak metal signage. In the background is Colorado, not Black Mesa Peak
2/ Black Mesa OK
Then we "had" to go on the "ten mile" trip to Black Mesa Peak to dump the camper cassette toilet in the neartest vault toilet. It is bad form to use a park comfort station for this.
Continued...

Good afternoon. We have left Black Mesa State Park, Oklahoma Panhandle
If you visit this park, make sure to stop in the Park Office to see their rescue/injured reptiles and arthropods

Good morning from the turkeys of Black Mesa State Park & Nature Preserve, OK
The water is back on
Highly recommend camping here. 1,600 acres not counting Lake Etling, kayak rental, Dark Sky for star watching... www.travelok.com/state-parks/...
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day28
Eating my bday cake from Moia's in Las Vegas (5 days ago). Stuffed from lunch, put cake in camper fridge, forgot about it. Lol
Comes w/ chocolate sauce but neither of us wants to wash pots from hotting it up per restaurant instructions.
Not stale. Delicious 😋

No Trespassing sign on fence at Philmont Scout Ranch
Today we drove along 140,177-acre Philmont Scout Ranch en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philmon.... Forest devastation from 2018 wildfire is still very much evident.
We saw mule deer but, sadly, none of the working ranch's ponies burros (or cows, bison.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day27
Good evening from Central Time Zone. Made it to Black Mesa State Park, OK Panhandle.
There's a fire ban due to high winds.
They're working on the plumbing.
No problem for us since we have our own turlet, sink, stove/oven in camper.
No sign of the deer, yet.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day27
Good afternoon, again. Potty stop in Des Moines, NM
Across from gas station is the long vacant, pink, Freedom School, a hotel bought by a woman from Wyoming in 1990s. She & her kids lived there. She homeschooled, eventually, incorporated as private school

Buffalo statue outside shop in Taos NM
People ask (not really), have you seen buffalo this trip?
Yes (not really).
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day27
Good afternoon from Angel Fire NM, a ski resort community that had little snow this winter and small biz is really hurting.
We are having a tasty lunch at Thai Angel.
Have not seen Johnny Depp, who fancies the place, we are told.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day27
Leaving Taos. Hotel parking lot view of Wheeler Peak, highest natural point in New Mexico, Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day27
Good morning from Taos NM. We slept in. Haven't taken any photos here, so enjoy flowering Aloe Vera apps.cals.arizona.edu/arboretum/ta... from visit to Tucson Botanical Garden a couple weeks ago.
I did see Hummingbirds on these. They are year round residents.
Westward Ho #LandYacht #Trip11 Day27
Pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, jalapeños
Everything pizza

Hotel Night pizza from Chalupp's. No Provel but still very good.
Leftovers for tomorrow night.
We're watching 2001: A Space Odessy. The band trip kids are in lobby watching Weather Channel.
We have a lot of miles to cover to get back to Misery.
