A fabulous #WildFlowerHour with so many #WoodlandPlants, huge thanks to everyone who shared pix.
We agree with @petergibbs.bsky.social, this is our favourite time of the year too, in local ancient woodlands!
Have a great week & keep a look out for next week's @wildflowerhour.bsky.social challenge!
Purple flower of liverwort or Hepatica nobilis in a Norwegian forest.
Hepatica nobilis blooms amidst the leaf litter of a Norwegian forest.
A bright yellow flower on a scaly stem, bursting forth from the leaf litter. A coltsfoot flower. The leaves won’t emerge for some time yet.

Spring must finally have arrived up north if the blåveis (liverwort, Hepatica nobilis) is out.
Bold yellow coltsfoot also bursting from the ground, heralding winter loosening its grip.

This Cuckoopint aka Lords-and-Ladies, Arum maculatum, caught my eye from some distance in the woods today. #WildflowerHour #WoodlandPlants
Spring at its finest in the wet woodland reserves. I came across the mysterious Herb Paris, Oxlip and Moschatel lighting everything up 🌼

Just going into seed but honestly such a bonkers looking photo, like it's some Himalayan valley rather than the side of a railway in Hartlepool and a female clone of Butterbur albeit one that spreads for hundreds of metres #WildflowerHour

Bluebells and Greater Stitchwort seem to be dominating the young woodland here at the moment with a smattering of garlic mustard here and there. #Woodlandplants #Wildflowerhour

Violet Limodore in woodland on the Greek island, Rhodes. Seen on Mariposa's Orchids of Rhodes tour.
My #woodlandplants for this week's #wildflowerhour are these stunning orchids - Violet Limodore.
Sadly, not a UK plant, but they really are too gorgeous not to share - look at them!! 😍
One of many fabulous plants seen with @mariposanature.bsky.social on their exceptional #OrchidsofRhodes tour.

Gorse … although not a #WoodlandPlants shrubs light up forest on Beacon Fell #WildflowerHour
Not as showy or obviously photogenic like some other woodland plants, but let's hear it for Wood Sedge, Carex sylvatica! #WildflowerHour #WoodlandPlants
One of my favourite woodland plants, Yellow Archangel, Lamiastrum galeobdolon subsp montanum. 💛 #WildflowerHour #WoodlandPlants
