Wed I spent the day out at the Western Treatment Plant (aka Pooh Farm). While photographing a Pectoral Sandpiper, a Latham's Snipe popped out of the low salt bush and fed right in front of me. After several mins, wandered into the scrub behind and vanished. Photo of a Latham's Snipe, a migratory bird from Japan that enjoys the Australian summer.

This week was the second of the season's counts for #LathamsSnipe in SE Australia. Surveying our local Ross Creek wetlands with the Director of lathamssnipeproject.wordpress.com , Birgita Hansen. We counted 18 snipe in a soggy wetland - such a change from last year's dryness.
