The fundamental problem with #LawAndOrderBinge2024- I mean okay there were a lot of fundamental problems but the most pressing one to me RIGHT NOW is that I cannot accept any excuses for not being familiar with characters' canonical history.

Look I know what "Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent" is because I tried to see if it was acquire-able for #LawAndOrderBinge2024 (it was not from any of the sources I checked) but in my HEART the CW having a L&O series means "high school AU" and I refuse to give that up.

#LawAndOrderBinge2024 Like I think that a district attorney is just a person whose (attempted) murder should be treated like anyone else's, but I do think the punishment for shooting Alex Cabot and making all the other main characters (and also me) sad should be death.

#LawAndOrderBinge2024 I'm fascinated in the rhetorical sleight of hand, where because the audience is invested in the show's protagonists, we do agree anyone who hurts them should be penalized, which is not the same as "shooting cops/ADAs should get harsher penalties" but is absolutely conflated.

#LawAndOrderBinge2024 I went back to clarify continuity and it turns out Alex Cabot doesn't show up in "Ghost" until 29 minutes into the 43 minute run time, and it's not like she's in every scene after that. What is even happening!

#LawAndOrderBinge2024 AU where Alex is the DA who replaces Jack McCoy and L&O The New Class is enjoyable to watch and also when Olivia fights with the DA in SVU s26 it's suddenly a LOT more interesting

#LawAndOrderBinge2024 It is extremely funny to me that L&O wanted to make the mayor of NYC a morally-compromised asshole and they still couldn't get anywhere near the levels Eric Adams effortlessly achieves.

#LawAndOrderBinge2024 Or they could just let Vigilante Alex use her considerable political skills to take over the DA's office despite spending all her time doing extralegal advocacy. That would be great.
