Warhead seeds burst from the barrels of flowerheads. There was traffic here once. Listen. Listen. Ghosts. Bustling, raucous silence elbows treads invisible in wounded streets, broken. The seeds strike, make hollows of busy homes. Absences are in full bloom, vibrant glades. Stroll between rainbow bloomed borders of bones. Inhale aromatic fragrant dead shades. This city a garden of the fresh gone. Snipers make spaces for new shoots to grow. Refugees tell the way it carried on. Their stories keep their children in the know. They rename their city atrocity. Actual help is needed, not pity.

A Change in the air in my landscaped head when I recognise a tree or plant I can name, after years coddled by cities concrete illumination. To see the stars for real above this bonce instead of orange lamplight spooled like juice over a tarmacadammed floor. That's a daff or fanny dill as our lass at home calls it. That's a crocus, means cheerfulness and gladness, if you ken owt our lass says. It's a wonder I can carry it all in this addled head. A glory of Orion's belt above that dunt expand with years like mine. Perhaps I do remember summat after all
