This was the cover on the edition I first read, and it must have been a long time ago because the price says $1.95. The cover art shows a frozen terrain, with ice mountains, under a night sky broken by streaks of white cloud, and in the foreground, the ice mountain is shaped like the Roman god Janus with one face looking in one direction, the other in the other direction--except that in this case, one face is female, the other male, representing the ambisexual people of Gethan, a world known to humans as Winter. Over the art is printed Ursula K. Le Guin: The Left Hand of Darkness; with a seal advertising, "A New And Never-Before-Published Introductory Essay By The Author Commissioned Especially For This Edition."
