This manifests as a general teal tint over the image, particularly in the shadows, and is most pronounced in the background where people’s skin appears blue. An astute observer may notice the pigeon’s feet look blue instead of the usual orangish color. The photo is takin in bright direct sunlight, which results in sharply defined shadows. This highlights the fact that the pigeon is mid-stride, with the forward foot raised about a half inch above the ground.

A photograph of the pride flag that flies in the Castro in San Francisco, California. The photo is shot on LomoChrome Turquoise, which shifts colors around. Instead of the standard rainbow progression, the flag appears blue at the top and progresses to yellow and red tones at the bottom. Power lines criss-cross in front of the flag, and in the background Sutro Tower is just visible, off to the side. The sky is shifted to a yellowish orange color, but the clouds are still rendered white. The surrounding neighborhood is in darkened shadow, and appears mostly turquoise. This film stock has a unique look that I didn’t expect to like so much, but I’m finding it challenging to imagine a situation where I can make use of that look intentionally. It is a tool I am definitely keeping in my belt, and I will be searching for inspiration and concepts to put it to good use.

A photograph of a view from partway up San Bruno Mountain in Daly City, looking towards Mt. Davidson and Sutro tower. The focus is on power lines in the foreground, leaving the view a little soft. The shot is on LomoChrome Turquoise, a film stock that alters the color palette from reality. As such the sky is a yellowish orangish color, and many of the houses and buildings in the view are turquoise. This is the view from my balcony, and I take pictures of it often, especially when testing out different film stocks. It provides me with a useful point of reference by which to compare the similarities and differences of film. I’m frequently annoyed by the presence of power lines here which render my ability to get a clean view impossible. This time, rather than fighting that and framing them out, I decided to focus on the lines and leave the view as a background element. I like how the alternate color palette works with the alternate focus point. Together, these two elements give the shot a bit of a sinister or somber feel. As always, thank you for taking the time to linger here and appreciate my work!
A photograph of a tree and a telephone pole. The telephone pole is smaller in the frame, but in focus. The tree is larger, but in the background and soft. Additional power lines cross the frame even closer than the telephone pole, also out of focus. The shot is on LomoChrome purple, a film stock that alters colors from what is actually there. As such, the sky is a pale orangish yellow, and the tree and other nature is a greenish turquoise. The telephone pole is slightly more neutral toned than the nature behind it, but it also has a strong turquoise tint. Similar to the other shot in this post, I first saw the telephone wires as an obstruction when I approached the scene. However, I decided to use shallow focus on the pole and let the tree go soft in the background. I think this makes the tree almost more interesting than it otherwise would have been, as it has elements about it concealed due to it not being sharply rendered. In my opinion the photo has a strange sinister feel to it, which admittedly I don’t have much a thought behind for this particular shot. However, it has me mulling over the potential for other shoots using this stock where I can lean into that feeling intentionally. Thanks for reading this far and giving my work some of your time!
I didn’t expect to like this film stock much when I went to try it, but it really has some otherworldly potential! Just gotta plan the right photo shoot.
