Great to see prof bodies show interest & even better to see #LongCovid mentioned.

Sad to see nothing from AHP professional bodies but totally unsurprising at the same time

A screenshot of a reflective written post on a light grey background. The text describes the author’s involvement in the Long Covid Physio Covid Inquiry team for Module 3, which focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare systems. It explains that the work has been a significant and difficult undertaking while being unwell. The post reflects on the release of the Module 3 report, expressing mixed emotions—particularly disappointment, though not surprise. It highlights validation in seeing criticism of infection prevention and control guidance, while also acknowledging the pain of “what ifs” and how different policies might have changed the author’s health outcome. The final paragraph notes the emotional timing, as it is nearly six years since the COVID infection that changed their life.

A continuation of a reflective written post on a light grey background. The text expresses frustration and irony that the report’s findings are being released while similar public health mistakes are happening again, referencing a meningitis situation in Kent. It questions whether lessons have truly been learned.
The post acknowledges some positives, including a dedicated chapter on Long Covid and recognition of affected healthcare workers, but highlights disappointment that Long Covid was not included in the main recommendations. It describes feelings of being sidelined and the emotional toll following Long Covid Awareness Day, noting a lack of wider engagement and the sense of speaking into an echo chamber.
The final section mentions small positives, such as references to prevention measures like HEPA filtration in healthcare, but ends with skepticism about whether these changes will actually be implemented.

The text acknowledges small positives in the report, such as references to prevention measures like HEPA filtration in healthcare, but expresses doubt that these will be implemented. It highlights frustration with Recommendation 10, which focuses on supporting healthcare workers with burnout and PTSD, while questioning the absence of support for those with Long Covid—especially those unable to work or whose lives have become significantly limited.
The tone reflects mixed emotions, balancing recognition of some progress with feelings of exclusion and disappointment. The post ends on a reflective and compassionate note, remembering patients and colleagues who have died, and expressing solidarity with others living with Long Covid, many of whom have become close friends.

I don't have the energy to write this out again as a 🧵
Please see pics for my thoughts on the module 3 report.

I am proud to have been part of the @LC_Physio inquiry team & have mixed feelings about the report. Mainly disappointed but not surprised

Today might bring up mixed feelings incl pride, loss, grief, gratitude and that’s okay.
If today feels hard, please know you’re not alone 🫶🫂

Many of us aren’t working anymore, or have had to step away from our AHP roles.
Some are finding new ways to use their skills, often while managing their own health battles.

That deserves to be recognised too! 🌿

Today is #AHPsDay in the UK.
I’ll admit, it stung a little when I saw it pop up on my phone. 💔

Many #AHPs & #HCW have been in touch with their anger and devastation. What are we meant to do? Lives, health and careers destroyed. Limited energy and our employers and prof bodies don't seem to care.
Another example of this being swept under the rug!

Despite everything, I’m pleased this incredibly difficult year is ending on a positive note.

It began with my career ending, but I’m pleased that I’ve been able to keep my OT hat on in some way 💚

Here’s to a kinder, healthier, and hopefully less clotty 2025! 🙏

As always, I wanted to highlight the invisible challenges of living with conditions like Long COVID.

Occasionally, I pushed beyond that to avoid forgetting my thoughts, but I always paid the price. On top of this, I dealt with daily migraines while writing.

I struggle with words now—I can’t think, speak, or write like I used to. Writing this required an enormous effort. Most days, I could only manage 10–15 minutes (on the days I felt well enough and didn’t have appointments etc)

The irony of writing about cognitive post-exertional symptom exacerbation (PESE) while constantly battling it myself is not lost on me.

This was one of the most challenging things I've ever done. While there wasn’t much blood (thankfully), there was plenty of sweat & tears. A huge thank you to Ciara & @sunsopeningband.bsky.social

We did it! 💚🎉

After expressing frustration about the lack of papers on the role of #OccupationalTherapy in #LongCOVID especially the debilitating cognitive symptoms many experience, we decided to write our own!
