If you don't treat the railways as an entire network, with an overarching strategy, you will end up where we are. Narrow considerations, lack of vision and continuing constraints on rail development. Labour once promised integrated transport. Let's hope #LouHaigh understands the importance of it

Deliver for *road users*. It's not just drivers who benefit from fixing potholes. Motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians all benefit.
It would be nice if the continued fixation with driving that's plagued transport policy for years could be brought to an end.
