Transport secretary Louise Haigh quits after fraud offence revealed Haigh's departure is the first cabinet resignation under Sir Keir Starmer's government.

Unlike more than a few #ToryMPs (including some who held Cabinet positions whilst in Government), Government Minister #LouiseHaig has absolutely done the correct and moral thing by resigning, otherwise the situation risked becoming a distraction for the Government.

The #louisehaig conviction was legally ‘spent’. Rehabilitation is a vital part of our justice system, justly giving people a second chance. The press should never have hounded her for this non-story.
