Luminous Microbiologists
Luminous Microbiologists YouTube video by Mark Martin

Here is a blast from the luminous past: #LuxPortraits of various microbiologists by Jennifer Quinn a number of years ago. She used a very bright Photobacterium strain. Do you recognize everyone?

The late Elio Schaechter was a true #MicrobialHero of mine. I'm, um, not at the top of the academic trophic pyramid in microbiology, but he ALWAYS treated me with kindness and respect. My wife Jenny painted these #LuxPortraits. I love the smiling ones. He could be such an imp!

A few years ago, I had fun with #LuxPortraits. 10 second exposure. 5 seconds on one side of the plate stack, and 5 seconds on the other side. If only I could truly bilocate!!

When chatting with @germjuggler for #MattersMicrobial last week, Dave recalled some #LuxPortraits we made together years ago. Here you go! I miss giving these workshops.

One of my favorite #LuxPortraits by @jennifer.j.quinn . The great late Carl Woese painted using luminous bacteria on a large nutrient plate. #Woese #SciArt @univpugetsound @ASMicrobiology
